Pre-Abortion Screening
After finding out that you are pregnant, you may be considering an abortion. Regardless of whether you are wanting a medical or surgical abortion, it is important to gather some information about your pregnancy.
Elevate Women’s Center offers pre-abortion screenings. Contact us today to schedule an appointment at no cost to you.
Prior to having an abortion, you will want to confirm a few things.
1. Am I Pregnant?
In order to have an abortion, you must first confirm that you are pregnant. Sometimes women can get a false positive on a pregnancy test or the test is taken too early.
When you contact us to schedule an appointment, we can help you determine whether it is the right time to take a pregnancy test. We offer lab-quality pregnancy tests at no cost to you!
2. Is The Pregnancy Viable?
If you have confirmed your pregnancy with a pregnancy test, you will want to have an ultrasound. During an ultrasound, the sonographer checks to see if your pregnancy is viable or not. This is important information; nearly 30% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage.
The sonographer will also use the ultrasound to determine the location of your pregnancy. Sometimes, women have an ectopic pregnancy, which is a pregnancy that is located outside of the uterus, such as in one of the fallopian tubes.
If left untreated, an ectopic pregnancy can become very dangerous to the woman’s health. You will need to seek immediate medical attention if you are found to have one.
Elevate Women’s Center offers no-cost ultrasounds!
3. Do I Have An STD?
Prior to having an abortion, it is essential to ensure that you do not have any STDs. Even if you do not have any symptoms of one, it is important to get tested. Sometimes, STDs are asymptomatic, and if left untreated, they can increase your risk of developing PID, otherwise known as pelvic inflammatory disease.
Elevate Women’s Center offers free STD testing and treatment for the following STDs:
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhea
